Marcie possesses a wealth of risk management and patient safety knowledge and experience. Her clinical career was as a Certified Emergency Nurse for 16 years in a Level I Trauma Center. She is nationally certified in healthcare risk management, patient safety and as a safety professional. She holds the highest recognition in healthcare risk management as a Distinguished Fellow in Healthcare Risk Management from the American Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
In risk management, Marcie has held the position of Vice President for Safety & Risk Management for the largest healthcare system in North Texas. Her responsibilities included oversight of the patient safety & risk management program for 14 wholly owned hospitals, 3 joint ventures and the Texas Health Physician Group (comprising more than 800 providers).
Her most recent position was with one of the largest medical malpractice insurance carrier’s. She served the SW region encompassing the states of Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Louisiana. She offered her clients clinical risk assessments for all healthcare environments, presentations on various risk topics for staff and physicians, and authored publications to share with all of MedPro insureds.
Additionally, Marcie is a TeamSTEPPS master trainer and certified CPI instructor. She has been an author in several professional journals, most recently contributing to ASHRM’s Patient Safety Playbook. She is a frequent national speaker on topics involving the importance of patient safety and the efforts needed to mitigate risk in the healthcare setting.
Marcie earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Ottawa University and a master’s degree in business and management from Southern Nazarene University.
